Multi-Legged Synthetic Web Slings
Synthetic web slings have an advantage over alloy chain slings and wire rope slings because of their overall weight. Due to their extreme flexibility and softness, synthetic web slings are the sling of choice when lifting fragile and delicate loads that must be protected from surface damage. Synthetic web slings are made of nylon or polyester to suit various applications. When choosing a material, Horizon Cable Service recommends considering a materials resistance to specific chemicals, temperature, and stretch factor. We recommend nylon for most web sling applications, and polyester roundslings are useful in applications requiring low stretch and acid resistance. All standard synthetic web slings are sewn using nylon slings unless polyester webbing is specified by the customer.
Nylon is the most widely used general purpose synthetic web sling. Nylon webbing is unaffected by grease or oil, and the material has excellent chemical resistance. However, nylon slings are not suitable for use with acids and bleaching agents or at temperatures in excess of 194 degrees Farenheit. The stretch of a nylon sling at rated capacity is 6% - 10%.
Polyester web slings are used primarily in conditions where acid is present or a minimum stretch is desired. Polyester is unaffected by common acids and hot bleaching agents, but the material is unsuitable for use in conditions where concentrated sulfuric acid and alkaline are present. Stretch of a polyester synthetic web sling at rated capacity is approximately 3% - 7%.
Synthetic web slings come in a variety of types in order to better serve a particular purpose. Multiple sling configurations allow a user to find a synthetic web sling that is most adaptable to the application for which the sling is used.

Horizon Cable Service also has offerings for single, double, triple, and quad leg slings available with a wide variety of fittings. Protect your synthetic web sling from abrasion, jagged surfaces, sharp edges and corners by selecting a web sling protector. We offer wear pads, edge guards, wrap around guards, sleeves, and sliding sleeves to name a few. All web slings include a permanently attached durable tag containing load capacites and all information currently required by regulatory agencies. Proof testing is also available upon request.
Polyester Roundslings, made of durable, high strength polyester load bearing internal yarns are lightweight and are the most flexible in construction. Roundslings, like synthetic web slings, are gentle to the load and provide some protection to fragile loads. A polyester rondsling is seamless and tubular in construction with no stitched edges to become snagged or ruptured. In addition, roundslings are color coded according to capacites to allow for easy identification while the soft pliable body of a roundsling allows the sling to hug uneven odd-shaped loads. Polyester roundslings stretch nearly 3% at the rated capacity and will retun to the original length after the load is released. The cover of a polyester roundsling protects load bearing yarns from ultra violet degradation as well as abrasion. Sliding sleeves and synthetic wear pads are also available to protect the roundsling against abrasion damage which can be caused by contact with sharp edges. Horizon Cable Service also offers eye and eye roundslings with double layers of buffer tubing to increase durability. All polyester roundslings include a permanently attached durable tag containing load capacites and all information currently required by regulatory agencies. The polyester roundsling is the cost effective choice in high capacity or pulling applications.
